Family Photos workshop (Sunday 25 April, 2-5pm, free)

MASKED BALL: Pop-up Photo Booth
Accompanying the exhibition Masked Ball, Nigel Rumsey presents a pop-up photo booth in the gallery on Saturday 27 & Sunday 28 March (12-4pm). Members of the public will be able to take their own self-portrait, either masked or unmasked, in the booth. Photographs taken will be printed out on the spot for the sitters to take home, and included in a slideshow of images projected in the gallery all weekend. This is a unique experiment to interact, and become part of, an exhibition - pop down to the pop-up photo booth and get involved!
FAMILY PHOTOS WORKSHOP
Sunday 25 April, 2-5pm, free
John Levett is running a workshop accompanying the exhibition 'Family Photos: Reworked' at the Viewfinder, at which Anne-Marie Glasheen will also present her work. Those taking part in the workshop will be invited to bring along their family album—all of it or part of it. They'll be asked to consider what the album represents to the family, what hasn't been included, who hasn't been included, what events are absent, what photographs could have been taken but weren't. Participants will be looking at re-shooting the image—under light, under glass, in shade and shadow; in a formal context and casually. Participants will consider how we might question the stories that the family snap tries to tell; what we might learn from pairing image and image.
To book a place, please email louise@viewfinder.org.uk
Workshop funded by Grassroots Grants and the Capital Community Foundation.
INSPIRED: MEMBERS' THEMES
Get involved with our first ever series of Inspired!
Ever wish you could see how other photographers respond to ideas that interest you? Email us an idea for a theme for other members to interpret as they wish - this can relate to areas of your own practice, or just something that's caught your eye recently. Give us as much detail as you'd like - it would be inspiring for other members to be pointed to websites / other photographers exploring similar ideas. We'll choose one theme per month, and invite contributions from members - photographs they already have, or photographs taken especially for this . We'll announce the first theme in the March email.
This event is free, and only open to Viewfinder members.
