School Run: Kelly Hill and Jonathan Illingworth

5 to 14 June

School Run exhibition catalogue cover

Kelly Hill and Jonathan Illingworth present projects in which they have each taken photographs on the only time of day they find available – the walk to drop off their children. The exhibition highlights how our repetitive routes can throw up beauty and intrigue every day, and how a local environment can differ greatly from day to day.

Hill's ongoing project involves taking a picture every day for a year (bar school holidays) and posting new shots daily on her blog until January 2010 – continuing while the exhibition's on and beyond. Hill's photographs tend to be delicate and mysterious; Illingworth's, in contrast, taken on his walks through Plumstead Wood, southeast London, are often darker and more macabre, and taken more spontaneously.
