“In traditional photography, the light is passed through a choice of lenses directly onto a flat surface. In digital photography you are asking a machine to translate light into its own language, remember it, and translate it back again. I enjoy watching my machines struggle to interpret the world. Sometimes they produce something beautiful. Often that makes me laugh.”

Principally a live artist, Laura Trevail showcases a body of diverse static work including photography, drawings and 3D hand crafted objects. Liveness remains in this collection of curiosities. Trevail’s ongoing exploration of ‘tat’ works on the dark, funny and pervasive, the ugly, deformed and retrograde. Stories abound.
