Volunteering at the Viewfinder
The Viewfinder Photography Gallery is an exempted charity and currently receives no core funding – it is staffed primarily by volunteers, for whose support we are very grateful.

Workshop leaders – proposals and ideas
We're inviting proposals for photography workshops - do you have a particular interest, skill or expertise you would like to share?

All workshop leaders, if charging, will need to be registered self-employed, and committed to equal opportunities.
Workshop technical support (usually on Sundays):
This role involves turning on the projector and PC, uploading the photos taken by each participant to a PC, opening each person's photos to view projected on the screen, flicking through them while the group discusses them, and uploading each person's three favourite photos to a Google docs folder for our webmaster (Steph).
You will also need to turn off the projector and PC, and make sure the computer area is left in a tidy state.
Usually, this involves being at the gallery between 3pm and 5.15pm.
Occasional weekend invigilation (Saturdays / Sundays / bank holidays):
Usually the exhibiting photographers invigilate the gallery, but they aren't always able to do so. We need a pool of occasional invigilators who can step in every now and then. Invigilation involves opening up the gallery, selling catalogues and cards, answering questions from visitors, and locking up.
This requires being at the gallery between noon and 4pm.
Membership communications (regular, ongoing role):
This role supports Barry White's sterling involvement as Membership Officer, and involves:
- Downloading and filing members' contributions to monthly member challenges
- Uploading members' photos as a slideshow, to be published online
- Researching and preparing information for the monthly members' email, including opportunities with other organisations
